I bought the Braun Series 9 Pro+ with my own money and tested it on my actual beard. Does it hurt? Does it pull? Here's my honest take.

Braun Series 9 Pro+ Review: I Tested It on My Own Beard

Braun's ad campaign features a footballer with barely any stubble. Testing a shaver on a nearly clean face doesn't tell you much. Since I had actual beard growth and the device had just arrived, I decided to find out for myself.

How I Bought It

I first spotted this device in Japan, priced around 13,000–14,000 Turkish lira. I hesitated because of uncertainty around adapter compatibility and regional head differences. Later, I came across it during Amazon sales and picked it up in nine installments. No sponsorship here — I paid for it myself.

What's in the Box

The standout accessory is a charging case that resembles an AirPods Pro case. You drop the shaver in and it charges and cleans at the same time. There's also a cartridge system — press it and liquid sprays out. There's a mild alcohol scent, noticeable but not unpleasant.

The Shave Itself

The short version: it doesn't hurt and it doesn't pull. The glide across the skin feels smooth, and the result is impressively close — baby soft, I'd say. There was minimal mess on the counter. These were my two main concerns, and the device handled both well.

That said, there is one clear weakness: it missed some hairs under the jaw and neck area. I'd call it plucked-chicken syndrome — a few patches left behind. For me, working from home, that's fine. For someone who needs to look sharp in a bank or a corporate office every single day, it might not cut it.

Another thing worth noting: if your beard has grown out a bit, the shaver occasionally tugs. At ideal length — meaning you shave frequently enough — that issue disappears.

Who Is It For?

This shaver suits someone who wants to get it done quickly in the morning without visiting a barber or making small talk. If you work from home or have a flexible routine, it's a comfortable, low-fuss option. If you need razor-sharp precision from every angle, you may want to pair it with something else for the tricky spots.

Verdict

The Braun Series 9 Pro+ is a solid product for its price. It's gentle, effective for the most part, and the cleaning case is genuinely convenient. The main shortcoming is that it can miss hairs around the lower neck. If you can live with the occasional touch-up, it's worth considering. What shaver do you use, and are you happy with it?
