Agent Reach: Give Claude Code the Ability to Read Reddit and Twitter

If you have ever pasted a Reddit thread or a tweet into Claude Code and received a failed to fetch error, you are not alone. Reddit and Twitter/X actively block direct scraping attempts, which means Claude cannot read the content and returns nothing useful. Agent Reach is a free, open-source repository built specifically to work around this limitation.

What Is Agent Reach?

Agent Reach is a set of agent skills that enables your AI to pull data from platforms it cannot normally access. The main supported platforms are Reddit (posts and comments) and Twitter/X (tweets and replies). Once installed, it adds dedicated channel capabilities to Claude Code so it can fetch and summarize content on your behalf.

How It Works

Without Agent Reach, pasting a Reddit or Twitter link into Claude produces a straightforward failure — the model cannot retrieve the page. After installation, Claude activates the appropriate channel (Reddit or X) and fetches the content.

Two examples were demonstrated:

  • Twitter/X: A tweet URL was shared and Claude read the replies beneath it and returned a summary. The same request without the skill produced only an error.
  • Reddit: A Reddit post about PHP attacks was shared. Claude fetched both the original post and the comment thread, then summarized the main viewpoints and the general sentiment of the discussion.

Instead of scrolling through dozens of comments yourself, you get a structured summary from Claude in seconds.

Limitations to Know

Not every platform is supported yet. For Instagram, Agent Reach can currently only retrieve a profile's general structure and grid — individual post or reel content cannot be fetched.

Two important warnings before you get started:

  • Do not use your main account. Scraping carries a risk of account restrictions. The recommendation is to create a dedicated secondary account solely for this purpose.
  • The agent-reach package on PyPI is a different project. Despite the similar name, that package is unrelated. Install directly from the GitHub repository.

Conclusion

If you rely on Reddit or Twitter for research and you are already using Claude Code, Agent Reach can meaningfully speed up your workflow by letting Claude do the reading for you. Just keep expectations realistic: platform support is still limited, and using a secondary account is a necessary precaution rather than an optional one.
